The economy is still handcuffing our improvement efforts but we still managed to make some upgrades as well as purchase a few new outboards. 2011 was our 20 th year in the Remote Tourism business. We ran a photo contest this summer and these photos should be available for viewing later in November and will be posted on line. A panel of three judges will decide the winners and just for the record, Judy and I will be like Switzerland and remain neutral.
There was a little good news last year as it relates to our numbers. In spite of a sluggish US economy, we did see a modest increase in our numbers. Moose hunt numbers were down but it never goes with the traffic at any time.
The 2011 season was a hot one for sure and in more ways than one. Right at the season opener two days in, fire destroyed our Mojikit Channel North camp. What can I say. Bummer. There was no clear clue as to why but it is gone never the less. We have already erected a new camp in its place but it still rerquires interior finishing. It's a big camp with three bedrooms and over 900 square feet. We build'm big on the Frontier.
As we scan the 2012 horizon for next years stuff, it'll be pretty limited as our resources are somewhat depleted. However, we are planning some more new Outboard motors as well as a new Lund 16 boat or two. In short we will be concentrating mostly replacing walkways and that kind of thing. Maintenance will be the theme.
As of this writing we are planning only two sport shows. Looks like the Detroit Novi show January 12 - 15 and the All-Canada Milwaukee show January 19 - 22. Judy and I would like to make it back to Minnesota as well but we haven't committed as of yet.
One last housekeeping item is whether to open Kathleen lake for 2012. We've been kicking around the idea of opening it for the month of June only. Depending on the bookings it is very doable provided we have back to back flying. In airplane speak, that is no empty legs. There are a lot of folks who love Kathleen and the excellent fishing. Stay tuned to our web site for updates.
Lastly, we have a new mailing address.

That's it for now folks. We wish you all the best for the upcoming holidays and for the new year.
