Kathleen Lake

Kathleen Lake is the headwaters for the Opichuan river system that flows north into the Albany River. This lake is the furthest out from our base south of Armstrong. Be sure you have lots of film for this picturesque small lake. The lake is shaped like an 'H' and has a very short portage (50 yards) to a skinny arm to the northeast. Altogether it is approximately 7 miles end to end. The fishing pressure over the years has been limited and vacationers visiting Kathleen report some of the best fishing they have ever had. This lake combines quantity and quality.

When we acquired Kathleen in 2001 it was very shacky and reminiscent of the way fly in fishing used to be (and still is in some places). We added an addition for the shower .. A solar water system provides the water via a 40 gal water heater .. A complete new kitchen with hot and cold .. new windows (w/ screens) .. exterior siding .. A larger fish cleaning house with running water. We still have a ways to go and hope to add solar in the very near future. The lights are propane, as well as, a new propane fridge and chest freezer. The roof is new with the trademark Ogoki Frontier Orange steel. The camp is radio equipped with a Motorola radio-telephone.

Equipment-wise there are two 14' Lund deluxe boats with 6 hp outboards. There is a third 14' boat with 3 cross seats. All have swivel seats with upholstered back rests.
